ADRA Denmark is seeking an Accountability Advisor

ADRA DK’s programme portfolio is growing, and we are therefore looking for a colleague who can assist us in issues related to accountability as well as monitor our programmes in Syria (in close coordination with our Humanitarian Coordinators). S/he will be part of our programme team, which currently consists of eight staff members. The Accountability Adviser will be based in Denmark but is expected to spend a considerable amount of time in our partner countries.

ADRA Denmark is an exciting workplace with 16 employees in Nærum. We are part of a global network present in more than 130 countries all based on Christian values. ADRA Denmark has eight close partners in Africa and the Middle East, where we are involved in both relief and development programmes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support ADRA Denmark’s capacity building of partner offices in regards to accountability practices (as per CHS requirements), including continued development, refinement and management of complaints mechanisms.
  • Act as ADRA Denmark’s M&E focal point for partner offices and provide technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of partners to implement effective M&E systems and utilize appropriate tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Contribute to a harmonized approach to accountability across the international ADRA network with specific coordination with ADRA International, the ADRA regional offices (AFRO and MENA) and other ADRA supporting offices.
  • Monitor ADRA Denmark supported humanitarian programme activities in Syria in coordination with ADRA Denmark’s Humanitarian Coordinators
  • Keep ADRA Denmark informed about the political and security situation in Syria
  • Provide inputs from the Syria programmes to ADRA Denmark’s Communication and Fundraising Department

 

The successful candidate will have as many as possible of the following qualifications:

  • A relevant education, preferably at a higher degree level
  • At least five years’ relevant professional experience in programme management in humanitarian and development contexts
  • Solid experience managing monitoring, evaluation and learning of programmes and working with planning tools such as Logical Framework Approach and Theory of Change
  • Thorough understanding of the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS)
  • Experience in providing technical guidance on accountability and the implementation of complaints mechanisms
  • Experience from working in Syria and other ADRA Denmark partner countries
  • Ability to travel extensively and in insecure environments
  • Good facilitation and writing skills; fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong networking skills, intercultural and social competences
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a humanitarian team
  • Solution-oriented while following guidelines
  • Motivation to work in a faith-based civil society organisation

 

Employment conditions:

As per the ADRA Denmark terms. The salary level follows the basic government salary scale.

The workplace is Nærum, Denmark. The position will include travel activity to Syria and other ADRA Denmark partner countries.
