ADRA Denmark is seeking a MEAL adviser

Are you well versed within humanitarian and development work and eager to ensure a high quality in programmes? Do you have a systematic and structured approach to your daily work? Are you experienced within programme planning, monitoring frameworks, complaints mechanisms and learning? Then you may be a good match for this position.

ADRA Denmark is looking for a colleague who can assist us in issues related to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL). S/he will be part of our programme team, which currently consists of 10 staff members. The MEAL adviser will be based in Denmark but is expected to spend a considerable amount of time supporting activities in our partner countries.

ADRA Denmark is an exciting workplace with 17 employees in Nærum. We are part of a global network present in more than 130 countries all based on Christian values. ADRA Denmark has eight close partners in Africa and the Middle East, where we are involved in both humanitarian and development programmes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as ADRA Denmark’s MEAL focal point for partner offices and provide technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of partners to implement effective Planning, Monitoring & Learning systems and utilise appropriate tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Support ADRA Denmark’s capacity building of partner offices regarding accountability practices (as per CHS requirements), including continued development, refinement and management of complaint mechanisms.
  • Contribute to a harmonised approach to accountability across the international ADRA network with specific coordination with ADRA International, the ADRA regional offices (AFRO and MENA) and other ADRA supporting offices.

The successful candidate will have as many as possible of the following qualifications:

  • A relevant education, preferably at a higher degree level
  • At least five years’ relevant professional experience in programme management in humanitarian and development contexts
  • A systematic and structured approach to the work
  • Solid experience in managing programme planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning and working with planning tools such as Logical Framework Approach and Theory of Change
  • Thorough understanding of the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS)
  • Experience in providing technical guidance on accountability and the implementation of complaint mechanisms
  • Experience from working in ADRA Denmark partner countries
  • Ability to travel extensively and in insecure environments
  • Good facilitation and writing skills; fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong intercultural and social competences
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; proactivity and strong organisational skills are an asset
  • Solution-oriented while following guidelines
  • Motivation to work in a faith-based civil society organisation

Employment conditions:

As per the ADRA Denmark terms. The salary level follows the basic government salary scale.

The workplace is Nærum, Denmark. The position will include some travel activity to ADRA Denmark partner countries (est. 3-4 trips per year).
